Abstract

An Asymptotic form for the solution of a linear constant coefficient partial differential equation with a small parameter, ϵ, appearing in the lower order terms, and its error estimation are obtained, based on the assumptions that a radiation condition is satisfied and ϵ√( x 2+ y 2+ z 2) = O(1). An application to the problem of steady three-dimensional flow of a stratified fluid with uniform density gradient and unbounded extent is made.
