Abstract

Abstract Three laser-based techniques have been used for the measurement of relative concentration profiles of the radicals Cl, CH2Cl, and CH3 and several major species in a low pressure, premixed, laminar CH4/CH3Cl/O2/Ar flame. The chlorine atom concentration is suppressed throughout the primary flame zone associated with the production of H, O, and OH radicals, but increases rapidly, by the reconversion of HCl to Cl, within an extended flame zone.
