An Explorative Study on the Lives of Marriage Migrant Women from China

Abstract

본 연구는 중국 출신 결혼이주여성들의 삶을 다각적인 측면에서 탐색하여 그들의 삶의 의미를보다 통합적으로 이해하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위하여 경기도 시 다문화가족지원센터에서 실시한 다문화가정 모 자 책놀이 수업에 참여한 다섯 명의 중국 한족 출신 결혼이주여성을 대상으로 개월간 참여관찰 회 과 심층면담 회 을 실시하였다. 중국 출신 결혼이주여성의 삶을 성인 중심의 가족관계 자녀와 엄마의 관계 존재적 자아로서의 삶 차원으로 나누어 분석 기술한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 중국 출신 결혼이주여성은 시댁과의 갈등상황에서 남편의 도움을 받으며 가족 내에서 자신의 존재를 공고히 하려고 노력하고 있었다 그리고 원가족과의 지속적인 관계 속에서 도움을 주고 받으며 딸로서의 역할을 다하려고 하였다 둘째 자녀와 엄마와의 관계에서는 자녀의 성공적인 삶을 위하여 이중언어 교육 학습중심의 교육을 실천하면서 좋은 양육자로서의 엄마역할을 수행하고자 노력하였다. 마지막으로 중국 출신 결혼이주여성들은 그들을 객체화 하는 부정적인 사회적 환경에 서도 자기 삶의 주체로서 사회적 관계망을 활용하며 경제활동을 하고 꿈을 찾아 나가는 능동적인 행위자임을 연구결과를 통해 알 수 있었다The purpose of this study was to understand the meaning of lives of marriage migrant women from China in a more integrated way by exploring their lives in various aspects. The participants were five marriage migrant women from China who were involved in a class of ‘mother-child book play for multicultrual family’ at the Multicultural Family Support Center in a S city, GyeongGi-Do. Participation observation and in-depth interview were conducted. The lives of marriage migrant women from China were analyzed by three dimensions of ‘adult-centered family relationship’, ‘relationship between a mother and her child’, and ‘life as the existential self’. The results were as follows. First, they were making efforts to consolidate their presence in the family with the help of their husbands in conflict situations with the family of their husbands. Also, they were trying to do their parts as a daughter by exchanging help with each other in the constant relationship with their maiden homes. Second, in the relationship between a mother and her child, they tried to make efforts to carry out roles of a mother as a good caregiver by practicing bilingual education and learning oriented education for their children’s successful lives. Finally, they were active doers as the subjects of their own lives who participated in economic activities and were seeking their dreams by using their social networks even in the negative social environments that objectify them.
