Abstract

This research paper intends to explore the role of altruistic factors namely environment knowledge, environmental concern, environmental responsibility and informational influence on the intention of the individuals towards Voluntary Vehicle Scrapping (VVS) scheme introduced in India. The study was conducted in India with 400 study cases. The relationship between the latent variables and the VVS intention is studied with the help of Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The results of the study indicate that informational influence and altruistic factors positively leads to VVS intention. Further, it is also found that old age and urban domicile of individuals positively moderated the relationship between environmental concern and the voluntary vehicle scrapping intension.
