Abstract
This work deals with an experimental investigation of the flow around a pair of identical cylinders in staggered configuration, subjected to cross-flow and forced harmonic motion. The investigation aims to estimate the flow frequency content from measured hot-film data and to identify the occurrence of synchronization between the flow and cylinder dynamics. The controlling parameters are Reynolds number, Strouhal number, angle of attack, pitch ratio, and dimensionless forced frequency. The investigation was conducted in towing tank for Reynolds number around 3810. Results indicate the occurrence of synchronization not only at the forced frequencies but also at sub and super harmonics.
