Abstract
The study reported here supports the hypothesis that trained volunteers can lead certain parent education programs effectively, allowing professional educators to increase their total efforts on behalf of parents. Comparisons were made of volunteer and professionally led groups in an ongoing Extension sponsored parenting program. Urban/rural comparisons were also made. There were no significant differences between volunteer and professionally led groups on child gains or parent satisfaction.
