Abstract

SUMMARY Laboratories are an integral part of engineering courses. Where part-time students miss these an alternative may be provided in simulations. The importance of realism in the screen presentation of the plant is evaluated in this paper. The conclusion is that simulations are less effective than the actual laboratories but that realism minimizes the disadvantages.
