Abstract

In this paper, an Alternate Mark Inversion–Symmetrical–Symmetrical-Post (AMI–SSP) dispersion compensation technique has been proposed and tested for mitigating dispersion effects in Radio over Fiber (RoF) system to improve the RoF link performance. In comparison with other existing dispersion compensation techniques, the proposed AMI–SSP technique provides better performance as the simulation is performed at a high data rate (up to 100 Gbps) covering large transmission distance (up to 700 km). Using eye diagram, it is seen that the AMI–SSP technique provides maximum eye opening, high Q-factor (11.93) and minimum BER (3.46e−33) for 100 Gbps data rate at 700 km transmission distance for the deployment of RoF system.
