Abstract

In this paper, an analytical model for an Integrated-Alternate Mark Inversion (I-AMI) Modulation technique and Alternate Mark Inversion Symmetrical-Symmetrical-Post (AMI-SSP) dispersion compensation technique has been presented to enhance the capacity of Radio over Fiber (RoF) system. This I-AMI modulation technique employs EAM (Electro-Absorption Modulator) in the transmitter to achieve the high data rate long-distance transmission and the AMI-SSP technique employs SSP compensation technique in the transmission channel to reduce the effect of chromatic dispersion in long-haul RoF system. The analytical results obtained in term of Q-factor for both techniques have been validated with the simulation results. The I-AMI modulation and AMI-SSP compensation technique provides Q-factor of 10.83 at 75Gbps and 30.10 at 60Gbps over a transmission distance of 250km and 700km respectively. Further, it is observed that the obtained analytical results are in good agreement with simulation results.
