Abstract

In this paper, a new integrated NOLM and loop buffer is investigated to provide an efficient buffering-switching service to curb the signal contention. Various limitations using the proposed device are analyzed in order to obtain an optimum performance. Among the deficiencies evaluated are various types of noises that cause intensity fluctuation on the buffered and demultiplexed signals. Switching characteristics of the NOLM demultiplexer are also analyzed.
