Abstract

Vehicle energy usage has become a favorite topic for many global scientists. This paper presents calculations for almost all current cars operating under a particular driving cycle, whose method is to average the main technical parameters of the research objects. Nowadays, the calculation methods of vehicle energy consumption require many no-published technical parameters for modeling or many measurement devices for testing. The advantages of the proposed calculation method lie in the simplicity of using only the typical vehicle and driving cycle parameters. Experiments were carried out for different driving cycles with various speed ranges inside and outside urban areas to verify the proposed method. The experiments show an acceptable deviation from the results calculated by the presented method, which indicates that the proposed method in this paper is feasible for further studies on vehicles' energy forecasting during the operation in a given driving cycle.
