Abstract

An improved automated sample cleanup apparatus used in the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) procedure for measuring polychlorinated dibenzo- p-dioxins (PCDDs), dibenzofurans (PCDFs), and ortho-unsubstituted or planar biphenyls (planar PCBs) in serum and adipose tissue has been developed. Compared to our prototype model, this device is more versatile, easier to use, and has reduced the time required to perform the first part of the procedure from 20 to 4 h.
