Abstract

The aim of the study is to review the general, theoretical guidelines for the choice (synthesis) of chemical composition of aluminium and magnesium alloys in consideration of the specific conditions and requirements of their corrosion resistance. The present state of art related with the phenomena of metallic materials corrosion behaviour has been outlined. Taking magnesium alloys as an example, the idea of alloys synthesis was studied in detail and referred to the specific requirements of their corrosion resistance. The concept disclosed in this study can be equally well applied to alloys based on other metals.
