Abstract

ABSTRACT This study assesses the level of compliance with the regulations that guide the siting of telecommunication masts in the Kumasi Metropolis. Adopting a comparative case study research approach, 83 respondents were interviewed. The results of the study showed that, there was a complete compliance with the height standard for masts; however, there was high level of non-compliance with regards to the safety zone of 20m. Also, the requirement for the telecommunication firms to ensure co-location of their masts has been violated in the study areas. In conclusion, the non-compliance with the regulations could undermine the quest to make Kumasi sustainable.
