Abstract
A theory, based on the extremum principle for rigid perfectly plastic materials, is given for the analysis of three-dimensional deformation in rolling. Theoretical solutions are obtained for single-pass rolling in terms of sideways spread, roll torque and the location of neutral points. The results on spread and roll torque showed excellent agreement with those found by experiments in the literature.
