Abstract

AbstractA procedure to overcome the experimental difficulties found in the study of the intrinsic kinetics of zirconia carbochlorination was analyzed. The effect of experimental variables on the carbochlorination kinetics was studied by means of thermogravimetry. The effect of temperature on the extent of two reaction stages was observed: the first reaction stage dominates the reaction at high temperatures and low reaction‐degrees. The second one was of first order with respect to the chlorine partial pressure at 1223 K.
