Abstract
This paper gives an overview of the approach used for the assessment of several operating systems for microcomputers. The operating systems are all commercial products and cover a spectrum ranging from general purpose operating systems to small, real-time operating systems. The criteria used for the evaluation are discussed and the approach used is discussed in detail. The results of the evaluation are not discussed in this paper.
