Abstract
The 3′ end of 16S RNA is the site of interaction of the 30S ribosomal subunit with messenger RNA during translational initiation (see ref.l for review). The pattern of nucleotide sequences found in the coding regions of natural templates suggests that the 3′ end of 16S RNA might also be involved in translational elongation (2).
