Abstract

According to protestant-evangelical christianism emergent in Chile and Latin America, the conversion to Jesus Christ triggers a process of psychological and spiritual change of evident psychotherapeutic implications. In order to describe and understand this process from the believers experience, a study using life histories and thematic and hermeneutic analysis was made, focused on the processes lived by the subjects and the changes and experiences that Christianity has entailed for them. The most interesting finding shows that the appropriation of the principles of Christianity and the experience of God's love and paternity are the central points that sustain the therapeutic character of this experience of faith.
