Abstract
In this paper, multivariate empirical mode decomposition (MEMD) method is explored to perform structural modal identification. The MEMD is undertaken to estimate the joint information of modal functions utilizing multiple channels of vibration measurements of structures. The mixing of modal responses is alleviated using ensemble EMD (EEMD). The proposed method is validated using numerical studies containing low energy modes and measurement noise. The results show a significant potential of the MEMD method as a modal identification tool.
