Abstract

To reconstruct a wave from an off-axis image hologram by an ordinary method using the Fourier transform, the carrier fringes should be less than one third of the required resolution. We have proposed a new method which can be applied to crystal specimens even when the carrier frequency does not satisfy the above condition. Therefore, we are able to use a higher quality hologram taken at a lower magnification to reconstruct a wave. The proposed method is applied to a high resolution hologram of a magnesium oxide crystal by using a high performance digital image processing system based on a personal computer
