Abstract

A fluid phase equilibrium apparatus has been designed, built and tested for an operating range of 70 < T < 300 K and 1 < p < 200 bar. It consists of a high-pressure cell with an optical inspection device, a gas circulation system, a cryostat, and instrumentation for the measurement or control of temperature, pressure and composition. Accurate experimental VLE and VLLE data are useful as a basis either for process design or for testing and improvement of correlations.
