Abstract

A three-dimensional simulation program for analysis on high areal density magnetic recording is developed, in which magneto-static interaction between a head and a medium is taken into account with a reasonable medium modeling. Recording phenomena in submicron-width recording in perpendicular magnetic recording are investigated with this simulator. Simulated results indicate head field disturbance to neighboring track is small even in submicron trackwidth because of its small side fringing of 0.05 /spl mu/m. It is also confirmed that such writing situation brings well-defined off-track overwrite pattern. Thus, our simulation predicts the feasibility of multi-track perpendicular magnetic recording in 0.3 /spl mu/m trackpitch.
