Abstract

The Williams’ or poor man’s absorption (PMA) model for absorbed-pion exchange is extended to reactions of the type Bp → (Bπ)(πp), where B is the beam particle (π, K or p), and (Bπ), (πp) are two-body final-state enhancements. The two decaying systems in the final state yield more information on the nature of the production mechanism. We investigate to what extent the PMA describes the reaction and exploits the greater range of information available.
