Abstract
This paper analyzes the development of our relationship to death over time as discussed by Freud, Mellor and Shilling, and Weber. This paper conducts an in-depth analysis examining the internal structures of the theorists' specified work. Following the in-depth analysis, the paper overlays a lens of the “before” and “now” of our relationship to death on each theorist's argument. This paper then comparatively analyzes each theorist's argument weaving them together to create a meta-theory. This meta-theory explains missing pieces and brings together loose ends in theory in a harmonious synthesis.
