Abstract
This study is based on a literature review of three aspects of gender inequality in the field of science and technology (S&T): women being disadvantaged in S&T education, visible gender segregation in S&T occupations, and women being disadvantaged in the development of S&T careers. It analyses gender barriers and problems in the development of S&T careers and uncovers the key factors contributing to the career success of contemporary Chinese women scientists through textual analysis of the success factors for women scientists in China.
