Abstract
An alternative procedure for evaluating the surface heat flux of a turbulent boundary layer with an unheated starting length is presented. The procedure is based on the application of the two-layer model for velocity and temperature profiles. The 1 7 th power law is used for flow outside the viscous sublayer and linear velocity and temperature profiles are applied to the sublayer. The equation for surface heat flux is identical to that of the momentum integral method, but the procedure for evaluating surface heat flux in the present approximate solution is simpler and more rigorous.
