Abstract
Cooperative Device to Device (D2D) is a communication model that will be implemented in 5G wireless technology. D2D realizes communication between two devices directly, so that dependence on Base Station (BS) decreases. The limitations of the distance between the two devices can be overcome by applying the cooperative method for the system. The role of relays becomes one of the crucial points in cooperative D2D communication. Besides, the process of forwarding information by the relay selection method also can reduce the amount of energy consumption. Therefore, this paper proposes a modified adaptive best relay selection (ABRS) method in D2D cooperative communication systems. A mechanism of the proposed ABRS is introduced and then is simulated by considering several parameters that have an impact on energy efficiency through computer simulation. The simulation results show that the ABRS with relay selection in the cooperative D2D network produce higher energy efficiency than that of without relay selection. Based on that, an ABRS cooperative D2D communication becomes an energy- efficient system to support 5G technology.
