Abstract

An apparatus has been developed for the calibration of accelerometers at low frequencies (below about 5 Hz) and large displacements (up to 25 mm amplitude). The calibrating motion is a vertical free vibration of a table which is supported by a tension spring and guided by air bearings. The motion is monitored with a capacitance transducer calibrated in situ by static displacement measuring methods.
