Abstract
Abstract This study was initiated to determine the mode of inheritance of matte skin, an abnormal root periderm characteristic in inbred lines of the Nantes type carrot. This characteristic was observed during a breeding program at the Ontario Agricultural College (1). Although no conclusive genetic information was obtained, certain anatomical and physiological aspects of the anomaly were ascertained.
