Abstract

This paper presents the methodology and the experimental results of the independent speed and position vector control of two three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) fed by a five-leg inverter (5LI) with space vector modulation (SVM). We know that 5LI with SVM can drive two Induction Motors (IMs) independently in the past studies. And SVM can reduce the switching count rather than PWM control in the case of two IMs. We choose the PMSMs because many PMSMs are used in industrial field recently. PMSM has the features of saving-weight and high-efficiency compared with DC motor and IM. And the maximum feature of the PMSM can realize the high performance position control. The experimental results are proved that 5LI with SVM can drive two PMSMs by independently vector control.
