Abstract

An overview is given of works on the construction and application of amperometric enzyme electrodes for the determination of metabolites in biological solutions. The following electrodes are dealt with: monoenzyme and polyenzyme electrodes involving amperometric detection of hydrogen peroxide, bienzyme electrodes with oxidase-peroxidase, electrodes based on organic metals and chemically modified electrodes, dehydrogenase electrodes, amperometric hydrolase electrodes and highly sensitive electrodes involving chemical amplification. Biocatalytic stripping and macrokinetic behaviour of the electrodes are discussed.
