Abstract
The present investigation focuses on the AMX loaded HA/Ni/Bentonite carrier to enhance the antibiotic activities. In this study, the negatively charged surface of bentonite was coated on the surface of humic acid/nickel by electrostatic attraction, leading to a remarkable improvement in the drug delivery applications. The resultant carrier systems were characterized using Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy, Transmission electron microscopy, X-Ray diffraction spectroscopy. XRD results showed that the particles were crystalline in nature. SEM and TEM results confirmed that the drug was encapsulated in the humic acid/nickel/bentonite carrier, and the particles were seen as spherical in shape. The AMX encapsulation and release profile were checked with UV–Visible Spectroscopy. The developed carrier achieved 90% of AMX encapsulation efficiency. The drug release studies were observed to be 67% of release in pH 2.5 and 64% release in pH 5.5 solution environment within 24 h. AMX encapsulated HA/Ni/Bentonite carrier exhibited the MIC value of 550 µg/ml and 45% of quorum sensing inhibitory activities. The colony-forming assay indicates a bacterial colonization value of 2 ± 0.5 for AMX encapsulated HA/Ni/Bentonite carrier. The interaction of AMX encapsulated HA/Ni/Bentonite carrier facilitated the drug interaction with V.cholerae species.
