Abstract
Summary The amino acid composition of proteins in the aquatic plants Spirodela polyrrhiza, Elodea canadensis and Riccia fluitans was determined. Proteins of the above mentioned plants contain great amounts of amino acids such as leucine, tryptophan, aspartic acid and glutamic acid. The amino acid composition of proteins in aquatic plants was compared with that of hen egg. Biological values of the proteins of aquatic plants expressed as Essential Amino Acid Index (EAAI) were 52.2 -52.7.
