Abstract
The paper discusses the presence of American proverbs as paremic loans in Polish. The author analyses the issue of American proverbs and their international distribution. The paper examines the process of paremic borrowing and the reasons for borrowing paremias in Polish. The study focuses on the familiarity with American proverbs among younger and older Poles and offers possible explanations for the existing differences between the groups under scrutiny regarding their knowledge of the selected American paremic loans.
