Abstract
The article is devoted to the research of American sanctions against China imposed after 1989 Tiananmen Crisis. During 1990s the problem of the sanction extension was in American political agenda allowing the politicians (for example, Bill Clinton) to get their political points. However, bonuses for American capital and the strong confidence of American elite in inevitable victory of Western neoliberal model in China following the development of trade and economic ties with the West made the sanctions nominal and uninfluential. The situation lasted for more than two decades before D. Trump declared the Trade War.
