Abstract
AT THE 2010 Society of Pediatric Nurses (SPN) Conference in Orlando, FL, President LynnMohr announced that the SPN Board of Directors had approved funding of two new American Nursing Foundation (ANF)/SPN grants for 2011 (see www.anfonline.org for details). One ANF/SPN grant in the amount of $10,000 will be for an experienced nurse researcher. The other SPN grant in the amount of $5,000 will be for a beginning nurse researcher. Since 1955, ANF has focused on providing national leadership in health philanthropy, developing nurse scientists and their research, growing its financial resources, and infusing cultural and ethnic diversity into its advancement of nursing science. ANF has accomplished the goals envisioned by the leaders of the American Nurses Association (ANA) when it established the foundation in 1955. Patricia R. Messmer (SPN member and ANF treasurer), along with Margarete L. Zalon (ANF Chairperson), J. Craig Phillips, and Caitlin Van Brunt, conducted a historical study to identify all ANF scholars from 1955 to 2009 with data on (a) PI and/or CoPI(s), (b) year of grant, (c) title of grant, and (d) affiliated institutions (school, hospital, or organization) at the time of the ANF award.
