Abstract
Abstract In the course of September-October 1959 the Joint Economic Committee of the Congress of the United States published a new volume of papers by American economists under the title of Comparisons of the United States and Soviet Economies. (1) The volume consists of nine chapters: Problems of Soviet-United States Comparisons; Population and Labor Force; Industry; Transportation; Agriculture; Levels of Living and Incentives in the Soviet and United States Economies; National Income and Product; Foreign Economic Activities; Evaluation of the Russian Economic Threat. The 26 papers included in these chapters were prepared by a large group of American economists engaged in the study of the Soviet economy.
