Abstract

Abstract The American Library Association (ALA)’s role in the postwar cultural restoration of Polish libraries remains relatively unknown. Special attention is given to individual requests for American books and journals as they offer insight into various needs of Polish libraries. The ALA’s collaboration with the Kosciuszko Foundation and the American Book Center for War Devastated Libraries with respect to Polish libraries is also examined.
