Abstract

Extreme temperatures have always been a serious threat tobell pepper production owing to its heat sensitivity. Thepresent investigation was planned to assess the effect offoliar spray of growth regulators on morpho-physiologicaland yield parameters in bell pepper cv. Royal Wonder.Spraying bell pepper with Salicylic Acid (SA) and 24-Epibrassinolide (EBR) solutions significantly improved theirtolerance to subsequent high temperatures. Exogenousapplication of three different concentrations of growthregulators i.e SA (0.10 mM, 0.20 mM and 0.50 mM) and EBR(0.05 μM, 0.10 μM and 0.20 μM) were applied at followingstages; 30 days after transplantation (DAT), 60 DAT and 90DAT. These treatments helped in mitigating the heat stressby improving growth parameters (plant height, plant spreadand leaf area), photosynthetic efficiency, membranethermostability, pollen viability and fruit set percent even athigh temperature shows that application of PGRs definitelyplays a role in initiating various mechanisms involved inovercoming high temperature limitations. However, foliarapplication of 0.20 mM SA (30 DAT) followed by 0.10 μMEBR (60 DAT) significantly enhanced the growth and yieldparameters as compared to untreated control.
