Abstract

Objective To study the feasibility, safety and image quality of 16-slice mobile CT for head scanning in ambush vehicle, and to establish a new model of mobile medical application for traumatic brain injury and cerebrovascular disease. Methods By way of a general ambulance in the hospital, the mobile CT was fixed to the stainless steel plate. The stability and safety of the mobile CT were observed during the highway and rural road driving. The scanning time, imaging quality and performance indicators were recorded during the mobile CT for head scanning loaded with vehicle. Results Ambulance in the highway with 50 km and rural road with 7 km, the mobile CT revealed on higher reliability and safety. In the wild environment, 35 cases of continuous head CT scanning were performed on the ambulance. The cumulative time was 141 min, and the average time was 4.03 min. The tomography of mobile CT is clear, no vibration artifacts, satisfied with clinical diagnostic criteria. CT scan showed that the brain injury in 3 cases, basal ganglia cerebral hemorrhage with necrosis in 4 cases, cerebral infarction with brain atrophy in 28 cases. The data showed that The scanning radiation dose was 40.43 mGy and personal power consumption was 0.29 kW/h. Conclusion The technology of 16-slice of mobile CT in the ambush is reliable. The quality of head scan tomography of mobile CT is clear and the performance is fine. The scanning was a short time and convenient. A new mobile medical model was created for brain disease.
