Abstract

The year 2020 appeared to be a massive loss of human population due to the COVID-19 virus. During that period of time, different medicines were utilised as disinfectants to minimise the spread of the virus. Among those, quaternary ammonium compounds were the most likely to be utilised as disinfectants. In this study, a quaternary ammonium compound namely benzyl-trimethylammonium chloride was synthesised at 0.1N to 0.8N concentrations and tested to find the activities of bacteria and fungi. Since this compound prosperously acts against bacteria and fungi, it can also truncate the spread of diseases caused by viruses. Research has proved that if an anti-microbial solution has the faculty to kill bacteria, then it also has viral activity. Then this solution is dissolved with protein powder and studied against protein solubility test. Furthermore, in this research, FTIR and UV spectral analyses of benzyl-trimethylammonium chloride were taken and explicated in brief regarding its functional group and absorption wavelength. This quaternary ammonium compound is very useful for mankind.
