Abstract

Malaysia Ministry of Education is always taking steps forward to improve the quality of education. Among the important aspects that are focused on is the Assessment of Digital Alternatives in school management in Malaysia in line with the current digital development. Through digital learning allows students to follow the learning process flexibly without having to be tied to conventional learning hours. The purpose of Alternative Assessment is to track the level of student mastery through Assessment for Learning and Assessment as Learning which is carried out continuously in PdPc either through oral methods, written methods or observation methods. The use of digital technology in education is recommended by the Ministry of Education to ensure that the country's education moves along with modernization. The government is in the process of implementing the National Digital Education Policy as a step forward to prepare a digitally literate generation Accordingly, this concept paper aims to discuss assessment practices and methods used such as observation, writing and oral methods in digital alternative assessment. This concept paper is constructed based on a literature review of several articles related to digital alternative assessment. Based on the findings of analysis from previous studies, among the digital alternative assessment practices that teachers often use to assess students are gamification, e-portfolios, e-quiz. Applications and digital platforms used such as DELIMa, Google Classroom, Quizizz, Kahoot, Google Meet, Zoom, WhatsApp and Telegram while the use of digital technology applications among teachers creates a positive impact. Therefore, this concept paper also presents some recommendations and suggestions to improve the quality and strategy of digital assessment among Islamic Education teachers. The findings of this study can be used by parties involved in further dignifying the practice of PBD implemented digitally in the context of teaching and facilitating Islamic Education.
