Abstract

Based on the problematizations set that emerge from the interface between Special Education and Rural Education, this paper aims to analyze Special Education Target Public (PAEE) students access in Midwestern rural schools, based on enrollment official census data, from 2007 to 2017. This is a documentary research, having statistical microdata of the School Census as source, which were read and processed through the IBM SPSS Statistics software. The results evidence the presence of PAEE students in rural schools of the scenario investigated, whose enrollments are concentrated in Elementary School. Among the PAEE, students with intellectual disabilities have a higher enrollment rate in the Midwest. It is concluded that the deepening of the thematic requires empirical studies in diverse contexts.
