Abstract
1. 1. The copper concentration of various tissues and excrement of normal (+/+) and heterozygous tortoiseshell (Mo to/+) female mice were examined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS). 2. 2. The kidney, duodenum and spleen of Mo to/+ female mice exhibited increased copper levels. 3. 3. A reduced copper content was detected in the plasma and erythrocytes of Mo to/+ females. 4. 4. The feces and urine of Mo to/+ females exhibited elevated copper concentrations. 5. 5. The other tissues examined (e.g. liver, lung) showed no significant copper level alterations.
