Abstract

Cleft Lip Alveolo Palatine, commonly knownas FLAP, are congenital conditions. They represent one of the most important and prevalent neonatal pathologies of the stomatognathic system. They are associated with various physical alterations, within which they refer to a series of dental anomalies, variable according to the different odontogenic stages in which they occur.Aim. The purpose of the present study was to identify and analyze clinically and radiographically the number dental anomaliesthat affect the primary and permanent series in a population of children with maxillofacial clefts.Methods. An observational descriptive clinical and radiographic study was carried out on patients between 0 and 13 years old, who attended the Interdisciplinary Care Service for Patients with Lip-Alveolar-palatine Clefts, belonging to the Faculty of Dentistry of the National University of Córdoba. Argentina. Numerical dental alterations of: a) excesses and b) defect were evaluated, both inprimary and permanent series (n= 100).Results. The data expressed a frequency of 11% of supernumeraries and 4% of agenesis in primary dentition series and 11% and 51% respectively in the permanent series. Referring to frequency of anomalies and type of cleft: Primary series agenesis was greater in palatal clefts 14.3%. And in the permanent series 46% unilateral cleft, 53.5% bilateral, and 71.4% in cleft palate. Permanent series supernumeraries were more frequent in unilateral fissures 20%.Conclusion. Children with lip-alveolar-palatine clefts show the clinical and/or radiographic presence of numerical dental anomalies referring to the formation cycle of the dental elements in their growth phase in both dentitions. A similar distribution of supernumeraries was observed, with agenesis predominating in the permanent dentition. A preponderance of affection is evident in the area close to the fissure, the most compromised elements of the central and lateral incisor on the left side
