Abstract
ABSTRACT New results on the registration properties of α-recoil tracks (α-RTs) in mica are reported. Several of the conclusions of an early paper by Huang and Walker (1967) in this field are found to be questionable. It is concluded that, though potentially possessing a number of advantages, the α-RT technique cannot at present be reliably used either for age determination in archaeology and geology or for palaeothermometry.
