Abstract

The occurrence of bovine alpha-fetoprotein was studied in diseased cattle. Fetoprotein was found by the Ouchterlony test in two out of four cows with hepatocellular carcinomas. It was not detected in any of 105 animals with various other diseases, nor in healthy adults or calves, but it was found in all of 8 foetuses.
