Abstract
This paper, proposes and experimentally demonstrates all-optical phase multiplexing of two input 10-Gb/s pi/2-shifted differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) signals at different wavelengths to one spectrum-efficient 20-Gb/s differential quadrature phase-shift keying (DQPSK) signal using four-wave mixing (FWM) in a highly-nonlinear fiber (HNLF). The experimental results indicate that the proposed all-optical phase multiplexing using FWM facilitates the cross-connection between networks employing DPSK and DQPSK formats.
