Abstract

One of the methods for reducing the negative environmental impact of conventional cars is to use electric vehicles (EVs). The proliferation of EVs has led in the installation of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS). EV charging increases distribution system power loss and reduces voltage. The goal of the present study is to minimize the power loss while maintaining a healthy voltage profile as a bi-objective function by positioning the EVCS along with Distributed generation (DG) correctly. DG plays an important role for minimizing power loss and improvement of voltage profile. The IEEE 33-bus distribution scheme was used in this work to determine the best site for EVCS deployment. To allow EV charging in a separated region, each charging station is allocated to a different location. The Symbiotic Organism Search (SOS) algorithm was used to find the ideal site for EVCS. The findings of SOS were compared to those of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO).
